Postcards from the Underworld: A Haunted Bar at the End of the World

Dubrovnic, Croatia

One cold, early November evening

Somewhere, carved into the rockface, outside the Medieval walls of the city, is a place to sit

drink an Ojusko beer

and, sensing the ghosts all around us that seem to inhabit this place, 

watch the sun slide, yellow and heavy, behind the gray Adriatic, leaving a trail of red capillaries veining the water.
