greece eternal
the weather can change in a flash here
one November day we are swimming in the Aegean -- come on in, the water's fine!
...and the next day we are driving over the pass to Gythion, encountering a full-on, wild hailstorm
one November day we are swimming in the Aegean -- come on in, the water's fine!
our friend Lexy and sister Deb meditating after a swim......
sunset ouzo toast on the beach
dropping down to the sea, the storm was raging over the water --- i love this juxtaposition of ominous gray and green...snapped the shutter just as zeus shot a lightning bolt from the sky...

Lovely contradictions. Are you still in Greece?
ReplyDeleteStunning.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo is amazing. I love how the weather can change so fast. It does that here too.
ReplyDeleteHaving spent most of my life near the water, I love the scene of a storm coming in to the shore. You "clicked" at just the right moment for that last gray/green shot. Score one for Zeus!
ReplyDeleteSafe travels, mon amie!
Genie
Your tavelogue continues to be enticing and exciting.
ReplyDeleteHail in the mountains? We get it on the flat land in Canada.
Loved the grey on green pic, with the lightning bolt for counterpoint. Great variations of all sorts.
Looks like a grand holiday.
wow! and then wow again
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos and memories Amanda. I always love coming along. Safe travels home dear friend.

Pictures are just amazing.
ReplyDeleteYia sou Amanda! Gorgeous shots.
ReplyDeleteGlorious photos! The Pomegrante..... beautiful!Swimming in those waters.....sigh..... HEAVEN!
ReplyDeleteLove the photo of "The Three Graces" (with Ouzo)!
And that last photo....Zeus "threatening" Posiden! It is a perfect shot!!!
I KNOW this trip has been a life-changer for you.... how wonderful to discover (and in some cases, re-discover) family and country....
Safe flights home, dearest Amanda!
Love, and Thanksgiving Blessings to You and Yours!

Our last dog, a black Setter, was called Zeus!
ReplyDeleteHoly cow, those are stunning photos. I can't believe you snapped the lightning as it happened!
ReplyDeleteWow! I am sooo envious of that shot of the lightning over the ocean, Amanda. What a shot to treasure!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! I did smile at this post. Yesterday I was in shorts and Tshirt, today I am in jeans and jumper! We suffer the same dramatic overnight season change, in Cyprus.
ReplyDeleteI love the ouzo on the beach pic, a great memory shot. Yammas!
very beautiful pictures and especially what a contrast with the current period !
ReplyDeleteI like your life moments captured, and the last photo, she is magic ! :))
Bye**
Oh wow, good on Zeus for putting on a memorable show for you*!*
ReplyDeleteI love that last photo! You can almost see Zeus's hand. I hadn't realized the weather varied so much in Greece.

sarah - storms like this in greece don't happen often in the summer, so encountering them in winter or spring is one of the benefits of off-season travel!
your posts are reaffirming. not everything is the same - you share the differences and yet you also find and share the common ground.
ReplyDeleteyeah, that last photo makes me want to shout. love the colors!!
I always wondered if you could swim in Greece in November. I'm thrilled to find your blog. Greece is my ultimate destination but unfortunately we can only travel in the winter months so I have not visited for years.....
ReplyDeleteΑmanda, fili mou! This is the first time I've seen the post that includes our beautiful afternoon at the beach. I'm so delighted by the memories. And, I love the bee posts. What a fantastic experience! Your photos, again, are incredible.
ReplyDeleteI feel so blessed that we, finally, met. When will I see you again?
Much love,
Αλεξια.
