Amanda has written for The New York Times about Slovenia and Greece, as well as Islands, Odysseyand Archaeology magazines. She is a contributor to the online women's travel magazine, The Travel Belles, and her award winning story, Into the Underworld, was published in The Best Travel Writing 2011. Her short fiction has appeared in The Tenth Daughter of Memory and Central Coast.

She is currently at work on a memoir about returning, like Odysseus, over twenty years to the legendary island of Ithaka, as well as the upcoming 100 Places in Greece Every Woman Should Go, to be published by Travelers' Tales in the spring of 2016.
