A Town Harry Potter Would Love

Somewhere, in the hills of central Portugal, there is a town where students walk to class in full length black capes, the fabric brushing the cobblestoned streets

A town with a confection of architecture

Where a chapel has been converted into a coffee shop

And a confessional into a bathroom

From a distance, the university town of Coimbra looks like it has been pulled from the pages of a fairytale

A town where students sing in the streets

Past an old woman selling boiled fava beans

With touches all around

that remind one

of Hogwarts

  2. It could be Hogwarts! (Here's one *adult* who adores Rowling's books and all the movies!) I would have thought the same thing you did....all that's missing are the Owls....and perhaps they show up at Twilight! A-ha-ha!

    I particularly love the Confessional....

Your photos - as always - tell the tale beautifully!

    Love,

    p.s. Those desserts.... oh yum!!!

  3. I never realised that Portugal is so charming. There are so many places that I want to visit and there's so little time. Travel is always such an enriching and rewarding experience.

  6. Romantic, the best of humanity, beauty every day at arm's reach. A privilege to walk there, and to see through your lens and hear through your words.

  7. What a beautiful and magical place this is, hard to inagine it is real. I adore that some of the buildings are pale pink too, so enchanting. You have captured it so well, makes me long to visit. Minerva x
